Where to Eat in Spring Lake, Ranked by a Chef

August 26, 2026 / 4 min read

Hospitality has been a thread through my life for twenty years. It started as a job when I was younger, but it evolved into a lifelong passion and a favorite side quest as a self-taught private chef. Today, I run the LiGreci Tasting Room right out of this house.

Because I love to cook, I have a massive appreciation for people who do it well. When I step out of my own kitchen, I'm looking for places with heart, soul, and service that makes you feel instantly at ease. Here is my personal shortlist of the best places to eat in town, depending on how your day unfolds.

Capsized Cafe

Capsized Cafe, a blue-shingled breakfast and lunch spot in Spring Lake Heights NJ
Blue shingle, hand-painted sign, and a coffee for the walk back to the porch.

This is the kind of neighborhood diner that anchors a town. They play great hip-hop, serve familiar comfort food, and the staff actually seems glad you walked through the door.

Go early, roll in wearing whatever you slept in, and grab a coffee to bring back to the porch. It's the slow, perfect Tuesday morning you promised yourself.

Spring Lake Seafood

The flight. Order it first and let it tell you what the kitchen can do.

They dry-age their fish here. It's a labor of love that most kitchens simply don't have the space or patience for, but it completely changes the texture and concentrates the flavor of the ocean.

Get the sushi flight. It's a beautiful, immediate showcase of what this kitchen can do. (And surprisingly, their pasta dishes hold their own against Italian spots twice their size.)

Rod's

Sea Girt, just south of Spring Lake. Worth the short ride.

Rod's delivers Jersey Shore seafood with an absolute mastery of the fundamentals. It feels nostalgic but never tired.

The volcano shrimp and the clams are absolute non-negotiables. Just go ahead and order two rounds. The bar wraps you up in that lively, humming summer energy you want on a Friday night. (Plus, it's just a quick five-minute ride on the golf cart from the house.)

The Parker House

The Parker House in Sea Girt NJ, a classic Jersey Shore restaurant and bar
Green awnings and flags. You'll know it when you see it.

You get two distinct experiences under one roof here.

The Porch is the upscale side, pouring great drinks alongside sandwiches and appetizers that somebody clearly cared about.

Then there's the other Parker House — the legendary local staple that fills up fast and stays loud until close. It's a twenty-minute walk from the house, or a breezy five minutes on the cart. (Take the cart. It ensures you have a safe, fun ride home without ever thinking about parking.) If you thought Spring Lake went to bed at nine, a Saturday at the Parker House will happily prove you wrong.

Local Tip: Sunday at the grill is the absolute best time to go. It's relaxed, filled with locals, and boasts the warmest hospitality of the week.

Judy & Harry's

The Lounge bar at Judy & Harry's, a fine dining restaurant near Spring Lake NJ
The Lounge. Sit here.

Arguably the best restaurant at the Jersey Shore.

They serve modern takes on Italian, French, and American cuisine with staggering precision. You can taste the care in every dish, right down to the clarified cocktails that take days of invisible prep work before you even take a seat.

Ask for The Lounge. This is your special occasion, dress-up, unforgettable vacation dinner. (Book well in advance for July.)

And when you'd rather stay in...

You're on vacation — you shouldn't have to put on real shoes every night. I built the kitchen at The Salted Cottage because a good meal changes the texture of a trip. You'll find Japanese chef knives, a baking steel, a Vitamix, and the space to actually enjoy cooking.

Or, pour a glass of wine, lean against the island, and let me cook for you. My absolute favorite thing to do is host guests, serving up our signature crunchy handrolls and a seasonal tasting menu while you finally just exhale.
